From her car window on a rainy day, a woman spotted a young puppy tied up with a chain. The chilly weather turned raindrops to ice before they could reach the ground.
Curious and concerned, she moved closer to discover the situation. A larger dog occupied the nearby shelter, leaving no room for the puppy to escape the elements.
The scene was set near an old gatehouse, close to a disused railway. The purpose of the chained puppy wasn’t clear, especially since it wasn’t well-fed. One bowl contained leftover bones while the other bowl sat empty, indicating infrequent feedings.

Determined to help, the woman started visiting regularly to feed the puppy. She ensured the puppy could eat its meals in peace, warding off other dogs that attempted to snatch the food.
It was obvious no one was taking care of the dog, aside from random passers-by who sometimes left bones.
Showing unwavering commitment, the woman continued to look after the puppy, making sure it ate every meal. Despite the presence of other curious dogs, she stayed with the puppy until it finished eating.

Her actions highlighted that the puppy’s survival earlier had relied on occasional acts of kindness by strangers, as no one ever came to the gatehouse to claim or care for the dog.
Seeking further help, the woman contacted a local animal welfare group. One representative remarked, “She asked us to find the dog a home. Although we have a shelter for cats and dogs, we couldn’t find a suitable space immediately.”
Efforts led to finding a temporary care facility in Yekaterinburg. There, Thomas, the puppy, received veterinary care, with plans for him to be neutered and rehomed soon after.

Despite his tough start, Thomas showed a loving nature, dispelling the notion that such a gentle creature could have been left chained and alone.
This affectionate puppy, named Thomas, is now looking for a forever home where he will be cherished. In return, his new family will be rewarded with unconditional love.
