In Port Elizabeth, South Africa, at Seaview Lion Park, an unexpected and heartwarming friendship has developed between Solo, a tricolored Border Collie, and an eight-month-old tiger cub.
This unlikely pair has become inseparable, sharing every aspect of their daily lives.
From eating and playing to grooming each other, Solo and the tiger cub do everything together. Their unique bond was first noticed by gamekeeper Ashley Gombert, who saw them happily playing in a lake.

Since then, the duo has become a regular sight around the park, even accompanying Gombert on trips to town in his Jeep.
Solo often shows typical Border Collie behavior by herding and guiding the tiger cub. Despite the vast difference in size, Solo’s nurturing instincts make him act like a protective older sibling, ensuring the cub is well cared for.

Their playful antics include play fighting and swimming in the park’s lakes, delighting visitors with their charming interaction.
Gombert has extensive experience with tigers and finds this friendship particularly unique. Tigers generally form bonds only with their kind, making this relationship between a dog and a tiger cub extraordinary.
He highlights Solo’s nurturing nature, which includes grooming and sharing food with the cub, showcasing their deep bond.

Though the tiger cub will eventually grow too large for its current enclosure and will be relocated, Gombert hopes the special connection between Solo and the cub will remain strong.
