In Istanbul, Turkey, a touching story unfolded at a veterinary clinic where Ahsen, a compassionate woman, encountered a uniquely spirited kitten.
This tabby had faced a rough start in life after a street accident left one of her legs severely injured. To save her, the shelter had no choice but to enlist the help of a veterinary clinic for leg amputation.
During her visit to the clinic, Ahsen noticed the kitten lying in her cage, her little front paw reaching out as if pleading for companionship.
“When I saw her, she tried to grab my hand,” Ahsen told Love Meow. “The staff explained that after her treatment, she’d need a forever home.”
Unable to shake thoughts of the determined feline, Ahsen, who has a home full of rescue cats with special needs, decided to take action.
“I couldn’t stop thinking about her. So I returned, and if she was still there, I’d adopt her and give her the loving life she deserves.”
Ahsen soon returned to the clinic and, true to her promise, brought the kitten home. Overjoyed, the cat – now named Ekim, meaning October in Turkish – snuggled into her new owner’s hand, purring contentedly.
“From the very start, she was affectionate and seemed overjoyed to be in a loving home,” Ahsen shared with Love Meow.
Under Ahsen’s care, Ekim was never alone. She wrapped the kitten snugly in a blanket to provide comfort. “She would cry if left by herself, so I kept her close,” Ahsen remarked.
Ekim thrived in this environment, growing stronger each day, and began to walk on her three legs with determination, not letting her cast slow her down.
Ekim impressed everyone at home when she independently navigated the house and even used the litter box on her own.
Once liberated from her cast, she gleefully dashed about, testing her newfound freedom and enjoying every moment in her fluffy bed.
Despite her tripod status, Ekim became the life of the household, outpacing her four-legged companions with her energy and curiosity.
She quickly bonded with Hayko, another special needs resident cat, who is paralyzed from the waist down. This dynamic duo formed a unique friendship, inspiring Hayko to be more playful and adventurous.
Two months on, Ekim has fully integrated into her loving family, becoming a lively, happy, and dearly cherished member. Her three-legged life doesn’t deter her spirit at all.
“Ekim is my little one-winged angel,” Ahsen told Love Meow, delighted with the loving tabby she’s welcomed into her home.
