Recently, we were alerted to a dire situation involving a neglected dog named Bono who was at the brink of losing his life.
Upon arrival, we were confronted with a distressing scene of severely malnourished dogs, some already dead and others fighting for survival.
They were so starved that a few had resorted to consuming the remains of another dog. It was unclear how long these animals had been in this horrifying state or who had neglected them.
Bono, in particular, was in very poor health, battling a severe infection and debilitating anemia. Although he was extremely weak when we found him, his condition started to show signs of improvement shortly after.

Despite his fragile state, Bono’s tail was also heavily infested with worms, adding to his list of challenges. It will take some time for him to fully recover, but we are committed to providing the necessary care and resources to nurse him back to health.
Under the watchful eyes of a team of specialists that includes a gastroenterologist, a hematologist, a physician, and a surgeon, Bono remains hospitalized with no clear date of discharge. Fortunately, his spirits appear to be improving.
He has become more responsive, is able to hold his head up, and his eyes are showing signs of vitality. While he remains underweight and infected, a scheduled consultation will proceed if his health allows.

In the future, Bono will require the amputation of the remainder of his damaged tail. On a positive note, his bouts of diarrhea have subsided, which is one less concern for us.
However, his blood tests indicate that his anemia remains severe. Bono has managed to gain some weight, increasing from 19.7 kg to 21.6 kg, a small but encouraging step forward.

Monday marks an important day for Bono as he will begin stomach treatment, continuing his journey to better health. The good news continues as Bono has started eating on his own, a significant milestone in his recovery.
We invite you to follow Bono’s progress closely, as we believe he has the potential to inspire everyone with his resilience.
