Meet Frankenkitten: The Irresistibly Unique Cat Melting Hearts Worldwide

Published on

Frankenkitten’s journey began under difficult circumstances. Life started rough for this unique kitten, who was discovered alongside a sibling under a house when they were about two months old.

Unprepared to care for the pair, the homeowners willingly handed them over to the Geelong Animal Welfare Society in Victoria, Australia. There, the cute kitten became the talk of the shelter because of his unusual appearance.

Frankenkitten was born with an extra set of ears and one functioning eye, characteristics that made him stand out. Georgia Anderson, a dedicated volunteer, immediately noticed him and felt a strong connection.

She decided to foster him after he needed surgery to remove an infected and malformed eye, aptly naming him Frankenkitten due to his stitched-up appearance.

Despite his tough beginnings, Frankenkitten quickly showed his affectionate nature. “He was in a lot of pain, yet the first thing he did was purr and nuzzle against me,” Anderson shared.

She knew immediately that her connection with Frankie went beyond a temporary foster situation.

Back home, although groggy from surgery, Frank’s affectionate nature quickly won over Anderson, her family, and their other pets. By the next morning, Anderson had already decided to give him a permanent home.

However, Geelong Animal Welfare Society requires an eight-day waiting period before any adoption can be finalized.

Throughout this period, Frankenkitten comfortably mingled with the other furry family members, including three cats—Lucius Malfoy, Mina, and Toothless—and a Beagle named Dudley.

Anderson, who had fostered approximately 80 cats the previous year, knew Frank was unique and someone she couldn’t let go.

Alongside his eye condition, Frank was also born with a severe overbite, which will require significant dental surgery as he grows older. These unique features, while posing potential health concerns, do not dampen his cheerful and sweet nature.

Once Frank’s surgical wounds healed, Anderson began sharing his journey on social media, introducing the world to the charming and photogenic cat.

His online presence has brought smiles to many faces, showcasing his rare form and infectious spirit.

At the Geelong Animal Welfare Society, Frankenkitten’s uniqueness quickly became apparent. While his extra ears were more aesthetic than functional—lacking internal components—they only add to his distinctive look.

The world is now embracing this special little cat, thanks to Anderson’s loving care and decision to share Frank’s story with a wider audience.
