When Animal Help Unlimited in India heard about an injured street dog in need of assistance, they promptly sent a team to the scene.
The team found a pet dog named Penny, who had been hit by a car. Life on the streets can be particularly hard for animals like her, especially in India, where the number of stray dogs has increased significantly.

The Humane Society reports that India has more than 30 million street dogs, and the country also records the highest number of human fatalities from rabies worldwide.
With the fierce competition among these strays for food and shelter, injuries can often lead to severe pain or even death. This might have been Penny’s fate if not for the timely intervention of Animal Aid Unlimited.

When the rescuers reached Penny, it was evident that she had a severely injured eye.
She was quickly taken to their medical facility, where a thorough examination revealed that while the rest of her face was unharmed, her eye was beyond saving and needed to be removed.

Even though she couldn’t see well, Penny seemed to understand that her future was looking brighter. Within a day at the rescue hospital, she started trusting those around her and showed signs of relief.
After her surgery, Penny’s true personality came through. She transformed into a beautiful, lively dog full of energy. “Love is seen with the heart, not the eyes,” a rescuer remarked.

The surgery freed her from intense pain, and although her vision is impaired, the love she radiates is clear to see.
Now, Penny is a joyful and spirited dog with so much affection to share! Her life has taken a wonderful turn, ensuring she never has to endure street life again.
