The zoo held a naming contest on its Facebook page to give these cubs unique identities. After over 4,400 votes, the winning names were chosen, all reflecting African origins. The male cubs were named Taj, meaning “crown,” and Josiri, meaning “brave.”

The females were given the names Kya, which means “diamond in the sky,” Leela, meaning “night beauty,” and Zuri, which translates to “beautiful flower.”

These playful lion cubs are proving to be a hit with zoo visitors, romping around with their family, and are expected to continue drawing crowds in the coming months.
