This story begins with Llana, a kind-hearted Pit Bull, experiencing a disturbing ordeal when she was abandoned, chained in the woods near the Bronx River Parkway, New York.

Her chain was only two feet long, and there was no one around to lend a helping hand. Her lonely days were marked by fear and uncertainty. However, her fate took a turn when a concerned jogger stumbled upon her.
While on an evening jog, this passerby was drawn by the sound of desperate barks resonating through the trees. Realizing nightfall had arrived, he postponed his investigation until the following morning.
After carefully searching the area, he finally came across Llana—frightened and tied to a tree deep inside the forest.
The jogger then reached out to Craig Fields from the New York Bully Crew, an experienced animal rescuer who promptly arrived to help.
The NYBC shared, “A jogger who was running through there the night before heard barking and went back the next day to find our special girl in the dense woods.
She was so scared and confused and was acting aggressively because of this. Who could blame her?”
At first, the distressed Llana barked aggressively, cautious of the stranger. Yet, Craig was patient and understanding. He slowly gained her trust by offering food and respecting her need for space, which gradually helped ease her fears.
Soon, Llana was comfortable enough to take food directly from Craig’s hand, marking the beginning of a newfound trust. With care, Craig slipped a leash on her and led her to safety in his vehicle.
Llana’s transformation was remarkable. With unwavering support and love, her defensive exterior began to crumble, revealing her true, affectionate nature.
Just a few weeks later, the once-frightened dog blossomed into a happy, devoted companion, eager to greet everyone with a wagging tail. Three months from her rescue, Llana found a permanent home with a loving family.
As the NYBC expressed on Facebook, “Llana’s family is so dedicated to her that they spent weeks getting to know her, spent time at the NYBC facility, put in the effort with their dog prior to introducing them and continues to put forth effort and responsibility.”
Her new life turned out wonderfully. Llana not only gained compassionate owners but also a dog sibling named Ruckus and a human sister named Tea.
Despite having never experienced such a large, affectionate family, she quickly adjusted and became an inseparable part.
Today, Llana thrives in her new environment, enjoying playful days and cozy naps with her family. Whenever her owners leave, she and Ruckus eagerly await their return with wagging tails.
Her family shared on Instagram, “We return home and they have their crazy wigglebutts and just cuddle in our laps every time we sit.”
For Llana, everyday activities—from playing to family bonding—are filled with happiness, love, and adventure, the very essence of the life she always deserved.
