During her yearly visit to Kruger National Park, wildlife enthusiast Rosa Swart witnessed an unforgettable moment, which she shared with LatestSightings.com along with several images.

“When we were working and could only manage a single three-week trip to Kruger each year, our days were long and tiring. We’d leave camp as soon as the gates opened and return just as they closed. Those were hot, exhausting days, but we didn’t want to waste any chance to spot wildlife,” she recalled.

“After two weeks of early mornings and constant wildlife searching, I felt worn out. I decided to skip the next morning’s drive and take a well-deserved break. But fate had different plans for me,” Rosa said.

Despite her intention to stay in camp, her husband convinced her otherwise, joking that he might encounter something incredible, like a lion in a tree.

That playful suggestion was all it took to change her mind. Rosa didn’t want to miss a rare sighting, so she joined him for the morning drive.

“As we drove down the S28 road heading south, we noticed a tall tree in the distance. To my amazement, a lioness was perched high in the branches. Even more surprising, seven male lions waited below. The lioness was in estrus, and to escape the persistent males, she had climbed to the top of the tree.”

After some time, the lioness grew uncomfortable and agitated, eventually deciding to leap down. The moment she hit the ground, the male lions immediately gave chase.

“We couldn’t see how it ended,” Rosa shared. “The lioness disappeared into the thick bushes, with all seven males in pursuit.”
