A remarkable video captured the heart-stopping moment when a lioness rescued her cub from being swept away in a crocodile river.
Photographer Luca Bracali took the footage at the Ewaso Ny’iro River in Kenya’s Masai Mara game reserve.
The video shows the lioness leading her three cubs across the river when one of them, eager to follow, loses its footing and vanishes beneath the surface.
Without hesitation, the mother lion quickly grabs her cub in her jaws, pulling it to safety before the strong current can carry it away.
Bracali, who witnessed the dramatic scene, explained that it was especially rare to see cubs of such a young age crossing rivers.
His guide, who had been working at the Masai Mara for over a decade, confirmed that such a sight was also a first for him.
