Koda was once a lively pet dog living happily with her owner, Brooke, until a car accident injured her severely. Brooke was at work when she received the distressing news that a car had hit Koda.
The accident changed Koda’s demeanor drastically; she struggled to walk, lost her appetite, and became withdrawn, showing little interest in interacting with anyone.

Despite undergoing therapy, Koda remained emotionally distant and unresponsive. Although she eventually recovered physically, the accident left her with a paralyzed leg due to nerve damage, and her spirits were still low.
To help Koda regain her emotional well-being, Brooke introduced a small companion into her life.

When she saw a picture of a kitten named Pickle at the Humane Society, she felt an instant connection and knew Pickle would be the perfect friend for Koda.
Pickle, who his mother had abandoned along with his siblings, seemed unphased by the large dog.
Initially, Koda was unsure how to react to the tiny, energetic kitten. However, Pickle’s persistence and affection gradually won Koda over.

The dog began to engage with the kitten, and Koda appeared to be embracing her new role as a surrogate mother to Pickle.
The presence of Pickle provided Koda with a renewed sense of purpose. She now follows the kitten around the house, and Brooke believes the two animals have developed a deep bond.
She affectionately refers to Pickle as her “service cat,” recognizing how much the kitten has helped Koda recover and adjust.
