Hope for Paws, a rescue organization, recently responded to a call about two dogs living under the I-5 freeway in California. Volunteers immediately sprang into action.
The organization’s founder, Eldad, and his friend Vanessa Enriquez, led the rescue effort. They found the dogs in a tunnel, blocking one end before driving to the other side and crawling through the tunnel to reach them.
The two poodles had been struggling to survive in the sewer for several weeks. The frightened dogs hid in a corner after hearing the rescuers’ footsteps.
When found, the brother instinctively shielded his sister, not knowing the rescuers’ intentions. The volunteers offered a hamburger to gain their trust, but the scared dogs refused to eat.
Eldad and Vanessa patiently approached the situation, sitting in the tunnel and trying to gain the female poodle’s trust. After some time, they managed to pet her and assure both dogs of their good intentions.
Once the poodle siblings trusted the rescuers, they were ready to leave the tunnel. The protective brother, however, remained cautious, ensuring his sister’s safety throughout the journey.
At the shelter, the dogs were cleaned, shaved, and fed. They were given baths and settled into their new home.
During this process, the dogs were named Pepsi and Cola. They quickly adapted to their new environment, pleased with the care they received.
