Kaitlyn, the tigress central to this touching tale, underwent pregnancy under the careful watch of conservation programs at an Australian zoo.
It was her first experience as a mother, and conservationists eagerly awaited the safe arrival of her cubs.
“We cannot afford for the Sumatran tiger to go extinct like its cousins, the Bali and Javan tigers. As a first-time mother, it’s even more crucial for zookeepers to monitor Kaitlyn’s cub’s birth closely.
They must be ready to react if anything goes wrong,” explained the Australian Zoo’s conservation program spokesperson.
When Kaitlyn went into labor, concern gripped her caretakers as one of the cubs struggled to breathe.
