Cody was left bewildered as he watched his owner’s car disappear down the street, unsure of why he had been suddenly deserted. Left alone, questions swirled in his mind: Why was he abandoned? Would they ever come back? The fear and heartbreak etched on his face were unmistakable, revealing a painful understanding that his family had left him for good.
Workers in a nearby industrial area in Southern California were stunned by the heartless act they had just witnessed. As they looked on, Cody was cast out of a moving car into the street, his former owners driving away without a backward glance. Acting swiftly, the compassionate workers reached out to Suzette Hall, a seasoned rescuer and the founder of Logan’s Legacy in Irvine, California.

Suzette Hall shared her outrage and sadness in a heartfelt Facebook post, describing Cody as “a little pocket pity, tossed out of a moving car.” She expressed how his mournful eyes told a story that broke her heart. Alone and bewildered, Cody curled up by the roadside, clinging to the hope that his family might return, but they never did.
Quick to respond, Hall and her team hurried to Cody’s aid. Initially terrified and distrusting, Cody was hesitant to leave with them, his faith in people shattered. With patience, gentle words, and tasty treats, Hall gradually coaxed Cody into a humane trap, marking the beginning of his new journey.

Earning the trust of a traumatized dog is never an easy task, yet Hall and her dedicated team managed to help him emerge from his shell. They gave him a name, Cody, and more importantly, a sense of safety and hope. For the first time since his abandonment, Cody felt secure and began to trust again.
Thanks to Hall’s friend Genavie, Cody found a loving foster home where he could start fresh. Under Genavie’s care, he blossomed, finding joy in every gentle pat and refusing to leave her side. His once sorrowful eyes now shone with happiness.

“Genavie has mended his broken heart and turned his sad eyes into glowing stars,” Hall shared in an update, witnessing the transformation.
While Cody continues to recover in his foster home, his happiness is evident. Grateful for the love he has found, Cody is well on his way to healing. When his time with Genavie comes to an end, it’s clear that Cody will bring immense joy to the lucky family who welcomes him. He is truly a good dog, deserving of the love and happiness he has found.
