Matt Bentley recently found himself in an unexpected and urgent situation. Acting on a tip about a dog in distress, he set out to find the animal and set it free.
On a deserted road in the Salt Flats, he spotted the dog, severely undernourished and almost bald from scraping against rocks to shield herself from dust storms.

Bentley brought the weakened dog to the Utah Animal Adoption Center and pleaded with the staff to take her in. They readily agreed, aware that she required extensive medical attention.
Soon after, a woman named Jamie heard about the dog, whom she lovingly dubbed “Kelly the doggy warrior,” and offered financial support to aid her recovery.
Kelly’s gentle nature was evident the moment she met Jamie. She happily approached Jamie, wagging her tail and seeking affection.
Without a doubt, Jamie was deeply touched by this connection. Despite the pain and past trauma Kelly endured, she maintained a positive and warm demeanor towards everyone around her.
Though determined to heal, Kelly’s recovery was slow. Jamie paid close attention to her progress, knowing she would adopt Kelly once the time was right.
Kelly’s first day at her new home felt as if she had always belonged there. Jamie’s other dog, Rocky, warmly welcomed Kelly, and by day’s end, the two were inseparable. Their bond grew so strong that they refused to sleep apart from each other.
Over the course of fifteen months, Kelly’s health drastically improved, and her fur fully regrew. Grateful for Bentley’s role in rescuing Kelly, Jamie arranged for him to reunite with the dog whose life he helped save.
The transformation surprised Bentley as he saw Kelly after her recovery.
Jamie frequently expressed gratitude for Bentley’s lifesaving actions, which deeply moved him to the brink of tears, realizing Kelly wouldn’t have survived without his intervention.
